About Prefate

Prefate is an independent personal project operated by Bruce Du. It brings together free Tarot drawing, card meanings, spread explanations and beginner guides. You can use it without creating an account.

Our aim is to make a reading easy to explore: consider your question, draw cards, read their meanings and decide which ideas are useful to you. Tarot is a tool for entertainment and personal reflection; it cannot establish facts about the future or another person.

After drawing, preview a prompt containing your question, spread, card positions and upright or reversed cards. You can edit it before copying it into an AI service of your choice.

Copying the prompt does not send it to an AI service. You decide whether to paste and send it, and that service’s privacy policy applies. Paid AI interpretations on Prefate are currently paused; the free drawing and prompt features remain available.

The guides explain Tarot symbolism, offer examples and suggest questions for reflection. Meanings vary with the question, spread position and reading tradition; no interpretation is a guaranteed outcome or professional advice.

The current 78-card deck was made with OpenAI image generation, human direction, selection and revisions, and a consistent frame. Its creation records are maintained with the project. The images are AI-assisted illustrations.
